CNN – People sue Apple over ‘overheating’ iPads

WOW - It keeps getting better for the iPad!
Finally someone is suing them for lack of delivery, long time overdue. http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/gaming.gadgets/07/28/lawsuit.filed.overheating.ipads/index.html?hpt=Sbin#fbid=FdoyflISeOn
iPad, What exactly is the point?
So I played around with the iPad and I'm struggling to find out exactly what it is good for, really Google maps and a bunch of pointless apps? I know what it doesn't have and for the life of me cant figure out why people insist on supporting Apple products. Here is a list of basic features a normal person would have assumed to be a standard outfit on Apple's latest mass consumption product:
1. NO Webcam - Seems like that would have been a logical addition for people that intend to use it as an ultra portable device.
2. NO Microphone - If I cant make Skype calls, then how do I use it to communicate with the outside world?
3. NO USB Device input - If you not gonna add a mic or a webcam, then at least give me the opportunity to add ones myself, and how the heck do I get files on this thing, please don't tell me I have to do it through the wireless or via blue-tooth???
4. NO Flash support! - Really? So FLV video playback doesn't work, so I need a YouTube 'plugin' - shameful, not to mention the millions of 'cool' websites I can never visit on my iPad.
Clearly we are moving backward in time.
Think Different
I found this online, thought it was appropriate to how I feel today about Mac 'n Trash:

More PC than PC, lol – all be it always trailing
Is it just me or has Mac become more PC than PC? An image like this ‘captured from Apple.com today’ would sure have sent shockwaves through every mac fanatic a few years ago.
With that said, the I5-I7 cores have been available in most major manufacturers since almost 6 months ago, again Apple taking forever to implement the latest technology. And its not just their cores, and GPUs that are mainly PC - anyone ever heard of Toshiba hard drives, and for heavens sake is that Need for Speed???
Apple tablet, think not!
When Apple breaks new ground, they always make a mess of things - case and point: Imac, Itunes and Iphone ver 1.0 were all pretty awful.I would consider waiting for Apple tablet ver3 before even thinking about this purchase, I don't think the fan boys will listen to me anyway, but what else is new. If I was going to buy anything tablet related I would go with the people that built Ver 1.0 - HP, Dell, etc. besides Courier holds a lot more promise IMO.
Another PC vs Mac guy

I too hate the mac ads, I don’t believe anyone who is truly better than the competition needs to try to put the competition down to try to get their point across, I believe products should speak for themselves. As for Mac’s not getting virus’ well don’t make me laugh. Why would companies sell antivirus and antimalware if such things don’t exist on mac?

Only some people understand!
Let’s tell a little story... At first I’ve been *not like Mac-aholic * but yeah you know... interested on what could be done with this platform etc... the usual pc guy kind of thing, eager to learn ! So, to be honest, I was quite ok with the Mac and was getting more interested since they obtained so many new users over the past few years. Then my friend got a Macbook Pro 2.4 ghz, 4gb DDR3 RAM and so on...which luckily for him was paid by the job ! (brand new, got it like 2-3 weeks ago) So, excited as I was, he came over to me with his “ brand new toy “ so I could tweak the vista OS(which I didn’t recommend, we all know why, but hey if you like it, Vista it is !) he installed on it via bootcamp. (vista install next to his “oh so very rock solid OS X” > like just in case :p > mind the uncertainty yet here !) /* Just for the record, my friend was getting tired of the “continuous pc problems” and therefore he was very happy when they offered him a Macbook Pro @ work ! I remember he worked on it a few times and said to me: “never back 2 windows !” */ Anyway a few days later this PC guy got a call from a frustrated Mac user xD haha lol ! - My right click mouse won’t work on vista - It takes 15 min to boot into OS X, is this normal ? - Bootcamp f*cks up my vista activation, what now ? - I’m getting a boot up error when I boot my windows partition - ... I mean: “Wasn’t he trying to get rid of computer problems ?” xD LOL ! Instead his “toy” seems to create them :p * Friend says * > Yeah but my colleagues @ work, they all work on Mac and I can assure you, nothing has to be fixed there. Of course they all work in OS X only (with that mac, fubar, in search of recognition, kind of tone) *I say * > Yeah it’s hard to f*ck up an OS which is practicly sealed with lead xD ! *Friend says* > I must admit, I miss the freedom of windows, the tweaking to your own standards, likes... *I think* > DEUH ! ... And so it went on but my point is: Apple is always spitting on ms and how they suck and trallalallala but a simple dual boot can’t be done ? A right click mouse input is too hard to be done ?! Come on, you gotta be kidding me? That is imho the greatest bullshit i’ve ever heard and does by far not represent the name of an ambitious computer manufacturer ! That was my story and deception (of the mac) at the same time > hope ya liked it :p ! Kristof
Rant!
I received a brand new “IPOD Touch” as a gift. My father and I were working together at his business with 5 apple computers (2 desktops and 3 laptops G5, Powerbooks, OX 10.3.1). The 5 computers, that all say “APPLE” on them, will not read the “IPOD TOUCH” because of an upgrade is required ($129.00 upgrade). Fortunately I am a PC lover and only worked on a MAC because I had to. My PC was bought in 2002 and all the MAC computers were purchased after 2003. Running XP, I downloaded Itunes for free and I was able to use the IPOD Touch on my PC computer. Does that make sense? How are MAC computers “user friendly” when you have to pay out the butt to get it to work? The fact is my APPLE product could not work on 5 outdated APPLE computers, however, I can use it on an even more outdated PC computer. My experience proves that PC will save you money and that PCs are reliable for purchasing the newest electronics.

Ten Hilarious things that mac users like to say
1. Who wants to play games on a computer anyway.
2. You don’t need a right click, all you do is apple click.
3. An Apple has an extra card installed making it a super computer
4. I hate Flash
5. Steve Jobs is just so Brilliant
6. If you installed Windows on a Mac it would explode
7. Why don’t you Bluetooth it to me?
8. I need an upgrade
9. What does GFX stand for?
10. Think Different
It also shows us why apple people are so clueless when it comes to computers in general, how many mac specialists do YOU know? I think the guy at the Apple store is pretty clueless, he told me Apples don’t get viruses. “Wow, now that’s a good reason to get an Apple” I said, anything else? “He gurgled out the rest knowing very well he was talking through his A hole, and every point he made I basically ruined his day, and maybe his career.”
He had a t-shirt on that said something like “Switcher – someone who wakes up from a deep PC coma.” Or something to that extend, so after I finished with him off, I asked him if he wants his boss to make him a new tee, that reads: “Snitcher – an apple sales rep.” I don’t think he liked that, cause he basically turned his back on me saying nothing, as pale as a ghost talking to a new customer.
FYI these people crack very easily.

Apple likes to p* off potential interrest
I never really had a problem with macs as such until I saw those ads "hey im a pc" and "im a mac", after that I just get so angry when I see a mac. I think its seriously there to p* off pc users (well obviuosly). Not too mention unethical, you wouldn't see BMW and Mercedes Benz running ads like that? Well, the law suits would be severe but still... Have also seen some press conference's with Apple and I was NOT impressed! This was with regards to Apple using Intel chips, and they very arrogantly pretending that they planned this all along, while still INSULTING pc's users. See if you can find this press conference. I especially love the one ad (sarcastic here of course) where the "pc" geek is bragging about doing spreadsheets, like thats all we do. I am running a home pc with duo core 2, 1 gig ram and a 256 geforce graphics card, and surround sound card (creative), and this half super computer is probably a third of the price of any crappy mac. Not really sure about spreadsheets but I sure can play almost any game on seriously high graphics modes. One more thing about any mac, I am a web developer and have noticed the difference with regards to flash on a mac and a pc. Cant explain why its so crap on a mac and whenever someone asks me (mac users) if there is way to make the flash play faster and smoother, I can only say "No, sorry". For example I was checking www.2advanced.com (ver 2) as a reference between pc and mac, and on one of the worst pc's here at work compared to one of the "normal" macs, Anyway thanks for the website, I can feel the anger rise again.

Form follows function?
Mac Biggest Abortions of design One of the oldest simplest facts and undisputable rules of design "Form follows function" does not apply to Apple when they "Think different". So here are some of my favorites, there are many more, but these ones are the best 'for now'.

We all know what really happened here, it was proven once and for all that PCs are faster, so Mac has a change of heart, 20 years too late.

"Forget about ergonomics, just make it look funky. Maybe we should speak to the lawyers about not getting sued in the future by consumers,... never mind they gonna love it. " - Some clever guy working at apple

"Most useless piece of technology ever invented"

Windows on a Mac, wow they must have been desperate.

Yeah Safari is so great that most people ended up using FF instead.

Metal on glass, brilliant!

Apple is bug free? Think again!

BBQ, Heater, Fire hazzard!

Yeah, so we know we were never fans of the right click but it seemsto be important

How many people know Steve was once FIRED from Apple?
Apple will always be slower than PC
1. Apple will always be slower than PC
Since I have followed Apple progress, some six years ago. I've always noticed how people (Mac fans and Mac media) always said the mac is faster. I hoped that one day I will also have a mac, since it is ultimately the fastest computer around, oops - okay that's what I thought.
Then to my surprise one day, my first job as a designer I get to work on a mac, I couldn't afford my own yet, but my boss was kind (or stupid) enough to force me to work on this mac, no harm done - its the fastest computer around, then the G3.
Mhua ha ha ha ha, okay so I'm working on this 'thing' - takes me a while to get used to the fact that you can essentially open Photoshop, freehand and quark (remember quark -lol). So for the life of me there is no real way to test its speed, except create a new A4 do a gradient diagonal fill from the top left corner to the bottom right corner and see how it does, how long it takes. Which I then did, to my surprise it was slower than the PC which I have at home, I was obviously perplexed and asked my boss how that is possible. He said its not possible, and essentially he doesn’t want to hear about it anymore.
But my problem is, my computer at home wasn’t even a high end PC, Pentium 3 - don’t remember the rest.
So still believing there might be some merit to Apple's claims I thought maybe there was just a problem with my G3, and that was that. Then they released the Imac, now the Imac was really an abortion of things you DONT want, which I luckily picked up right away, but I liked the G4, which at that point then was the fastest computer around (LOL AGAIN according to Apple). So, now you could do a bit more than open Photoshop (but not that much more), I also noticed Apple decided to slip in the CTRL TAB, (NOT ALT TAB) which is an old PC shortcut for switching between documents not applications (ALT TAB). So here's what I did, I tested the speed again, doing the Photoshop gradient thingy, OMW its slower than the PC, WTF????? I discuss this with all the apple fans and unfortunately they didn’t believe me, and in fact makes me feel like some sort of crazy maniac.
Then years later the G5 and Ibook is released, discovery channel does a documentary proving without a doubt that PC is faster
Apple panics and adds the Intel chip to their systems, now this WAS the biggest joke of the century, but if it wasn’t for discovery channel, nothing would have changed. They scary and disturbing thing was how apple went about with the marketing of this, as if they invented Intel.
Another problem is, the fastest computer is only the fastest computer for about 1 week, Apples computers could NEVER and have NEVER competed with Super PCs, they might have been admirable contenders for about a week, with mid-high end PCs, but technology changes too fast for Apple to keep up.
If you buy and apple today, you're not going to upgrade for at least 2-3 years. When in real terms your apple was already outdated the day you got it, upgrading things like imacs might just be impossible, and also G5's for that matter, yes you can upgrade the RAM and the HDD, but that's about it. This is also starting to prove my point as Apple the ultimate monopoly.
